Sports Cynts has been cancelled for the week of 12/24/09...but that doesn't mean I'm leaving you high and dry. Here is a quick and delicious appetizer and new take on a favorite dessert to amaze your family and friends for the holidays.
Kicking Deviled Eggs
• 6 eggs
• 1/4 cup mayonnaise
• 2 tablespoons very finely chopped onion
• 3 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
• 1 tablespoon hot sauce
• 1 tablespoon prepared mustard
• paprika, for garnish
• salt and pepper to taste
Directions
1. Place eggs in a medium saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring water to a boil and immediately remove from heat. Cover and let eggs stand in hot water for 15 minutes. Remove from hot water, cool, peel and cut lengthwise.
2. Scoop the yolks from eggs in to a medium bowl
3. Mash the yolks and mix together with mayonnaise, onion, sweet pickle relish, hot sauce and mustard.
4. With a fork or pastry bag, fill the egg halves with the yolk mixture. Garnish with paprika, salt and pepper. Chill until serving.
Dessert
Cyntsational Strawberry Shortcake
1 pound of strawberries (washed with stems removed)
2 8 oz tubs of whipped topping (I used Cool Whip)
1 pkg Sarah Lee frozen pound cake.
Hershey's chocolate bar (optional)
Cut the strawberries into small pieces and stir into the whipped topping until well mixed. Place a slice of cake onto a plate and top with a strawberry/whipped topping mixture. Garnish with chocolate curls or broken chocolate pieces and strawberry slice.
